After fighting in WWII, grandpa Bill returned to Manitoba to start a new life. Entrepreneurial and community-minded, he opened the region’s first automated milking operation in Gardenton, MB.
At the same time, Bill began purchasing territories to start a transportation business. He’d transport livestock to the Exchange District in Winnipeg—you can still see the old stockyards on Marion and Archibald—as well as any parcels or mail that community members needed to send.
After dropping off the cattle, he’d head over to Eaton’s and Sears to pick up catalog orders for the people in Gardenton and other towns in his delivery area, which he’d then drop off at the general stores for pick up.
Bill did this work for years, eventually getting his three sons involved and growing their fleet to 150+ trucks.
Throughout, Bill cared about his community. He regularly fundraised for schools and other causes, even getting involved in local politics. He believed in giving back and doing the right thing, the right way.
As third and fourth generation entrepreneurs, we’re proud to carry on grandpa Bill’s legacy as one of the province’s fastest growing environmental service companies, helping protect people and the planet through waste management and recycling.
